Marcel Duric had his first day of work at ECON TEL ten years ago — back then as an employee in the telephone sales department. Today, Marcel trains and coaches our team on all topics related to sales communication. We asked our trainer & coach how he joined the company back then and how it feels to have been part of the ECON TEL team for so long.
Marcel, you've been with ECON TEL for 10 years now — congratulations! Do you remember why you chose this job back then?
Yes, as if that was just yesterday! I saw an ad in the next... — the newsreel for Münster. Back then I was on maternity leave and looking for a part-time job. The call for tenders sounded appropriate — even though I wasn't sure at first whether I would meet the requirements: Sales calling for customers from technical and construction industries seemed very complex to me. I had my job interview with Claudia Ruwe: She took a lot of time for me and encouraged me to take up the job in a subsequent phone call. During the training period, I always had support from my colleagues. Someone was always there for me if I had any questions. I felt I was in good hands — that's how I chose ECON TEL.
Ten years is a long time — what was your career path at ECON TEL?
Back then, I started working on our customer projects as an employee in telephone sales. A few months later, I joined our new customer acquisition team and acquired customers for ECON TEL: That meant new tasks and challenges — which made me feel valued. When I was thinking about increasing my hours two years later, ECON TEL had just advertised a position as Trainer & Coach, which spoke directly to me. Since 2015, I have been coaching my colleagues on various topics and joining the new customer acquisition team from time to time.
At ECON TEL, you work as a trainer & coach. What exactly does your job entail?
During training, I provide content specifically on the topic of sales communication. I support my colleagues in making their phone calls authentically, effectively and successfully. Especially when working on the telephone, it is important to linguistically design acquisition and acquire certain skills — such as questioning techniques, taking up objections, having the courage to make appointments or actively listening.
As a coach, I provide individual support to employees and support them in the practical implementation of the techniques they have learned in everyday work.
In addition to sales topics, my offerings also include health — this includes topics such as mindfulness, stress management, (professional and private) and voice training.
What do you particularly enjoy about your work?
I'm always happy when I can help people. And of course I am happy about my colleagues: In these ten years, many friendships have developed that go far beyond colleague status. The good working atmosphere at ECON TEL and exciting, varied tasks mean that I always enjoy going to work.
After ten years with our company, you are now a member of the two-digit club. What exactly is behind it?
The “Two-Digit Club” was founded by the management a few years ago. Employees who have been with us for more than 10 years are accepted. This commitment to the company is honored once a year with a joint dinner in a pleasant atmosphere. The members meet and thus have an opportunity to exchange ideas. It is particularly nice to be surrounded by people who took a similar path at ECON TEL as I did myself: So you have many common topics — remember, back then...
We are very pleased that Marcel has been actively supporting the company with his work at ECON TEL for ten years and is helping to shape the company's history — thank you very much!
